I can’t believe I’m finally done with the exams; this year is now done and dusted – finish and klaar. I hope I did well. I can’t have mom breathing down my neck, about what a disappointment I am and how much money I would’ve wasted, if I fail. She never fails to remind me of that, never!

The only one whoever gets praise about his schoolwork from her is Sim, I’ve even stopped hoping to hear her say: “Well done Zinzi! You’ve made me proud!” like all good mothers do with their daughters. Nothing I do is ever good enough for her.

But I am done complaining about her. From here on I’m just going to enjoy my life like I have planned. Tee and I are planning to do a ‘send-off party’ this coming Saturday. It’s a kind-of farewell to her, she is going to Joburg on Sunday evening, her first time ever. She is so happy about it, says she might “bump into one of her favourite artists”, as if Cape Town doesn’t have artists of its own.

Lol! She says we must not do a repeat of what we did last.

“Let’s party but not over-do it, Zee!” she sounded just like my mom, only my mom would’ve advised me not to party at all.

Yeah right! How does the chick know me? I am Zinzi Zwane, the social butterfly of Blue Downs (you can stop laughing now). I own Cape Town and I’m gonna paint the town scarlet!

Kidding! I just plan to take her out to the V&A Waterfront to do all sorts of crazy things. And yes, I can afford some fun – my girl and I saved. I want to take her skiing at the ice-rank. I’m gona take the best photos.

I may just post them up on Facebook: The Diary of Zinzi Zwane – make sure you like the page so you don’t miss out!
