After the incident in the mall life went back to normal. Crystal hadn’t been to school in weeks. There was a rumour floating around that she had changed schools. Riana was of the opinion that she had been booked into Valkenberg mental hospital.

“I can’t believe she held you captive,” said Riana between bites of her cheese-burger pie.

Carly sighed. “Me neither. I thought I knew her.”

“If I ever get obsessed over a guy like that, please put me out of my misery.”

“Uh, reality check. You were that obsessed with Taylor, remember?”

“Oh yeah.”

Carly bent over her battered copy of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Her English class had a test in the next period.

“Don’t you know that play off by heart already?”

Carly smiled. “It never hurts to revise.”

Riana cleared her throat which Carly knew to mean she had something on her mind.

“What’s up?”

“Did you see the cover of The Voice this morning?”

“No, should I have?”

Riana fished in her denim school bag.  “I have it right here.”

She folded it out on the grass.

Carly looked down at a colour photo of Taylor Fisher stepping out of his rented black Hummer. He looked thoroughly miserable.

The headline read: Hollywood hunk’s Cape Town heartbreak.
