I am sure you will agree that the perfect outfit is a game changer and confidence booster – but what’s an outfit without the perfect pair of kicks? Well gents, I come to you kicking like Jackie Chan!
The classic Nike Air Force 1s are the perfect shoes for any occasion, and any outfit, and they come in 5 designs: super low, low, mid, high, and super high. The low is my favourite. The AF1s are basketball shoes; they were the first basketball shoes to use Nike Air technology – as such they offer extreme comfort; that’s if you’re not a sneaker head. Sneaker heads walk like penguins trying not to crease their kicks.
The Air Force 1s are so popular and such an amazing pair of kicks, that they have forgotten to be basketball shoes. They can go with any outfit – from formal to semi-formal and street. The kicks were popularized in basketball by former NBA star Jerry Stackhouse, and NBA champion Rasheed Wallace. Rapper Nelly and his group, St. Lunatics, collaborated on a 2002 single titled “Air Force Ones”. The shoe is also a focus of the 2007 single “Classic (Better Than I’ve Ever Been)”, a collaboration between of one of the best producers of our generation and what many consider a musical genius, Kanye West, along with Nas, Rakim and KRS-One. In 2017, Nike Partnered with the late great, Virgil Abloh of Off-White. Since then the AF1s have skyrocketed into even more popularity.
I’m starting my own collection now. It’s difficult because they’re quite pricey; but they’re worth every cent because they can change your whole outfit into something amazing. I have the Air Forces 1s LV8, red, and the Air Forces 1s GORE-TEX. Next on my AF1 hit list is the Virgil Abloh Off-White, to honour him.
You need to be careful when purchasing them; there have been accounts of people being sold counterfeit pairs by Instagram boutique stores. Purchase them directly from the Nike website if you don’t mind waiting two weeks for them.
