xmas rinchen

This week Rinchen is sharing with us what she will wear for Christmas and what she plans on doing.

Christmas is just around the corner and I couldn’t be more excited! I’ve often dreamed of a ‘White Christmas’, with snow, cuddles and hot chocolate but lets face it, what is actually better than hanging around with your family and friends on a hot Christmas day next to the pool with a braai? I personally don’t think there is anything better!

We all come from different families and upbringings which means that everyone is going to have different Christmas traditions with their families but I think that as long as they are all filled with love, laughter and lots of food that is perfect! My typical Christmas day is spent with my family, swimming in the pool and eating way too much delicious food – nothing fancy but special all the same! To me Christmas is about spending quality time with my family and loved ones and not about the presents! It is one of the few days a year where everyone gets together and forgets their everyday worries and just has a great time.

Often I get clothes as presents for Christmas and will wear those on the day but this year I am wanting to be a bit more prepared and decide what I am going to wear ahead of time so that I don’t have to worry about it. As i said earlier everyone has different Christmas traditions and you will need to wear something that is appropriate for what you usually do on Christmas day. The other side of things is that not everyone has lots of money at this time of year and can afford to go out and buy a new look for Christmas. This is why I thought that I would try and make up an outfit using only the clothing and accessories that I already have in my wardrobe.

This year I am wanting to wear a very simple, mid-length, fitted maroon dress with a low back, with my black and gold strappy high heels and some gold jewellery. I’ve also got a plain black clutch that I will take with me for the few items that I’ll need on Christmas day. I must admit that I am a bit of a makeup addict and can literally spend hours doing my makeup but not everyone is like that – which is absolutely fine! The makeup look I am wanting to go for is a simple but classy look. I’m going to do a beautiful gold and dark brown smokey eye with a wing using liquid eyeliner and I’ll add some sparkles to the inner corners of my eyes – this will really make your eyes pop! On my face I will just be going for a bronzed look using a warm bronzer and a light coral blush. Red lips are a personal favourite of mine and I think they look stunning on everyone but I understand that they are a bit much for some people. With that being said I am going to be pairing my gold smokey eye with a bright red lip to finish off the look. On the day I will decide what to do with my hair depending on how co-operative it is being but I am thinking of either some loose beauty waves or a sleek high bun. I think all the golds and deep reds in this look are beautiful festive colours and compliment all skin tones – what do you think?

As much as I would like to look great all day long I know that it is not really realistic for me. By the end of the day my hair will be a crazy mess, most of my makeup will have washed off in the pool, my heels will be long forgotten and I will probably be found chilling in my bikini but I am also totally OK with that because I know that if all of those things have happened it will be a sign of a fabulous Christmas spent with the people closest to me and that is all that really matters! Life can get so busy and I know that I can sometimes forget what is most important in my life – my family.

Lastly I would just like to remind all you beautiful readers that no matter what you end up wearing on Christmas day – whether you take inspiration from myself or not, whether it is old or new, it doesn’t actually matter. As long as you are surrounded by people who you love and that love you, you are going to have the loveliest day – what you’re wearing is not going to change that!

Let me know if you liked my look and what kind of outfit you are thinking of wearing on Christmas.

I hope that you all have a lovely and memorable day spent with the people you love most!
