Hello Fanz,

I hope that you all enjoyed last week’s blog and I promise that that won’t be the last time you read one of Rinchen’s blogs. I love to hear different views from different bloggers, fashion forward and just fashion lovers. Most of all, it’s pretty awesome to share ideas and learn something new from one another. And that’s why last week’s blog was so interesting for me.

Now this week I am going to talk about certain lifestyles that I have recently come across in the fashion world and also in RL (real life). I have been hearing a lot about people wanting to live a minimalist life and people wanting to buy more ethical fashion and also people wanting a more eco-friendly fashion lifestyle. So I thought I might share some of those views with you and what it actually means for those of you who might not have a clue at what I am talking about.

Minimalist Lifestyle

I have been watching a lot of blogs and talk-shows online, and even in church people have been talking a lot about living a minimalist lifestyle, and how in this day and age it is the perfect way to go. They say that a minimalist lifestyle will save you money and it will also help you sort through your cluster and get more organized. They say it is also a good way to give back to people who can’t afford to have what you have but don’t use.

So I wanted to find out what this minimalist lifestyle was all about. I google searched and apparently a minimalist lifestyle is a way to live with just a few essentials, like a 100 items or less, and some say Minimalism is a tool to rid yourself of life’s excess in favour of focusing on what’s important—so you can find happiness, fulfilment, and freedom.

Now you might want to know how that relates to fashion.

Well if you want to live a minimalist life you can’t be buying so many things that you aren’t even going to wear. And you can’t be keeping items that are just going to fill your wardrobe. So if you want to start transitioning to a more minimalist lifestyle then you can use this opportunity to organize your wardrobe to just the items that you will need and give the rest to charity.

I for one can’t see myself going minimalist for now (I still love my clothes). But I do think it is a good way to get rid of things you don’t use and also free yourself from having constant melt downs on what to wear as you will have fewer options and therefore less stress.

Ethical fashion buyer

Now I know that a minimalist lifestyle might not sound ideal to you, especially if you love having a lot of options in your wardrobe, so how about transitioning to a more ethical based fashion buyer.

Ethical fashion buyer is someone who does not just shop anywhere, but is conscious about the company that manufactures the clothes they want to buy. Every company that manufactures clothes has its own ethical conduct whether it be locally or international, there are a set of rules that that company should abide by.

A fashionista who is very conscious about the type of clothes that they wear, whether it be for religious reasons or just simply a personal reason, will want to follow up with the companies that they want to buy from and find out if it’s a company that respects its workers and that the working conditions are not gruesome, no exploitation is done, the company works on a fair trade, sustainable production is at the core of their company policy, a company that is environmentally conscious, and pays close attention to animal welfare.

Eco-friendly fashion buyer

If you think that paying attention to how a company runs its business is way too much and you just can’t keep up with all that information, then maybe try becoming an eco-friendly fashion buyer.

This might not be as drastic as a minimalist lifestyle or hectic as an ethical buyer, but it is just as rewarding. Eco-friendly fashion is a focus on clothing that takes into account not only the environment, but the health of the consumers who will be wearing the clothes and the working conditions of the people involved with making the clothes.

I personally like the eco-friendly fashion buyer lifestyle because it is something that involves making sure that our planet is safe for the next generations to come. We all know how our planet is running low on supplies and how chemicals and many other things have polluted our air and environment, so why add to the problem when you can be part of the solution by being environmentally conscious.

I hope that you have found this week’s blog useful and please send us some comments and topics you would like me to touch on. Best of all Stay Trendi 😉
