Being fat or over weight should not be the end of your world when it comes to being fashionable. We can get inspired by plusized celebs like Sophie Ndaba and Siba and other plusized fashionista bloggers who are doing their part in changing our perceptions on being plusized.

Growing up in a generation where what we see on TV truly does impact our daily lives and how we live it, makes it that much harder to be comfortable in your own skin, especially if you don’t fit into what society and media has tamed beautiful body size. I have experienced first-hand how it is like to walk into a shop and know immediately that you won’t be able to fit into any of their range of clothing. I have also experienced how terrible people can be when it comes to telling you that you are overweight and need to do something about it.

I am not a small, “model looking” type girl, I am abit to the plusize and I don’t think that being the size that I am should determine who I am as a person and what I can or cannot do. I recently watched an old episode of the show America’s got talent and on it a really plusized women went did a routine of poll dancing, before she did it people’s facial expressions looked like they were all saying “OMG, she is too big for this”, but the moment that she did her routine and moves that you wouldn’t think a big girl can do, everyone was cheering, because it was shocking. Even I thought “WOW! She has gats”.

I think that what I learnt from such an experience is that being a big girl should not limit your thinking. Yes, there are things that you can’t do well being overweight, but if you are determined enough then no one should tell you that you can’t or stop you from archiving it.

When it comes to fashion, the same thing applies. Just because you are a certain size, doesn’t mean that you can’t pull off the look that you want or that you can’t wear more trendy styles. Below I will do some dos and don’ts for plusized people and I hope that they will assist you to be more comfortable with who you are, and also remain stylish at the same time.

Do’s
1. My beauties you need to learn to try out some items before you buy them and before you turn your nose up and say ‘I can’t possibly wear that’. Chances are that you might actually look good in them than you would in your usual plusized collection.

2. If possible do some online shopping or window shopping before you settle on the clothes or store to purchase from. Some plusized beauties end up shopping at places where they only cater for their sizes and never go to other stores. Well, that’s not entirely bad, but you need to also visit other shops where their main targets isn’t just for plus size because you might discover some nice things.

3. Try out latest trends like jumpsuits, leggings, etc. . . Just because it’s on a thin manikin and looks good on a slender person doesn’t mean that you can’t try your luck and see how it looks on you. If you don’t like how it fits you can always not purchase it and if you do, well kuddos to you.

Don’ts
1. Never say never until you try it and as long as you feel good and look good, don’t let people put you down.

2. Comfort does not always mean good. Be adventurous and step out of your element, try new things that you would not otherwise try.

3. Don’t be shy to ask a trustworthy friend how the item looks on you, sometimes you might think it looks amazing meanwhile its showing off all the wrong parts, so do ask if you’re not sure.

4. Try for as much as possible to wear only your size, don’t wear clothes that are too big or too small for you as that will highlight your body in a negative way.

So my plusized beauties I hope you found this blog useful and if you have any comments or photos of you looking snazzy then please send it to us on facebook or twitter as I love to hear from you.
