Ever heard of the saying “you are what you project”?

Well that saying is very true in many aspects of life, even in how you dress. Having a positive attitude is very important because your attitude whether good or bad can determine how people see you. So you can’t always rely on what you are wearing no matter how expensive your clothes might be. This week I will be giving you some tips on how to make sure your attitude stays on point.

Assuming that fashion is all about dressing a certain way, wearing certain labels and never truly understanding that your attitude while wearing those clothes counts, is truly deceiving yourself. Your attitude plays a big role in how people around you perceive your look. Ever watched a fashion show and truly saw what the models were wearing in some of the shows? You would be like: “I would never wear that thing”, “do they seriously expect people to buy that outfit?”

But when you are watching these shows unconsciously your main focus isn’t always on what they are wearing, but more on how the model is walking and the look they give when posing. So you end up thinking “I can also pull that look off any day”.

So you see having that positive attitude can change so much about your look. For example, you are on your way to work and you accidently spilled coffee on your pants, not too much for people to really notice but enough for you to see it. If you keep thinking about it all day and keep rubbing it then that is exactly the first thing people will notice about your outfit. But if you pretend it’s not really there and let the people focus mainly on what you are confidently saying or doing, then no one will judge you or comment on the stain as it won’t even be an issue to them.

Tip 1: Make time for you

Create or make a time for yourself where you just self-motivate each day, it can just be 30 minutes of every morning before you do anything else to start your day. This will ground you and you will have something to hold onto when you face dark times.

Tip 2: Stand Up Straight

Learn to walk in a straight posture with your head held high, this might sound like a silly idea, but trust me, it works wonders. When you feel good about yourself, how do you walk? Obviously you don’t walk looking down with shoulders slumping, you stand tall and you walk like nothing can stop you or stand in your way because you will kick it to the side. Walking and standing up straight is a sign of someone who is sure of themselves, someone who is confident and knows exactly what they want. This will even help your clothes stand out and look good on you because people will know that you are sure of your choices.

Tip 3: Be the star of your own show

You need to realise that there is no one to live your life except you. Therefore you should be what people notice and your clothes should not be competing with you for the spot. You need to have a style that is simple, elegant and most of all shows your best features.

Tip 4: Make an effort

Learn to make an effort even when you don’t feel like it or aren’t in the mood to impress. The person that you need to be impressing is you, so don’t give up on yourself. Someone once said “become your own canvas, and recreate yourself.” I’m sure you don’t like to look at a messy house or office all day, do you? So why would you want people to see the messy you, remember that you are beautiful and we all want to see that beauty shine.

Tip 5: Trust the mirror

Most of us believe what others tell us about ourselves, not what we see in the mirror. This is why we are constantly seeking complements form other people to tell us that we are indeed worth it. But the truth is if we trusted ourselves in the first place we wouldn’t need people to assure us of what we already know and that is we are beautiful.

Tip 6: Set goals for yourself

If you aren’t happy with how you look and you would like to lose the weight, then set some weight goals and make them reasonable. Set goals for your life, career and any other things that you might like to achieve, because you have a better attitude and outlook of life when you know where you are headed.

The key to having a good attitude is to walk around knowing where you’re headed and being open enough to embrace change and new ideas, but closed enough to not let it change your main aim in life.

I hope you have found some of these tips helpful and don’t be shy to share some of yours with us. Remember to keep it Trendi!
