I saw her the following day at school. She was in our Physical Science teacher’s office. She saw me leaving, I was going home. I was a few metres away from her, I was near the gate.

“Given! Given!” she called after me.

“I will come back now, don’t leave.” I said when I saw that she was running to me, thinking I was leaving. She said OK and turned back inside.

I went home and came back to her. I stayed next to the school. I accompanied her home with her friend. I said nothing regarding what we discussed over the phone the previous night and she asked nothing too.

A few days passed and we still hadn’t talked about it. On Saturdays we were required to come to school for extra Maths lessons. Her friend didn’t come that day so I got a chance to be with her alone.

I asked her to go with me to my home and she agreed. My mom was home and that made Jurity shy. She decided not to enter the house and she waited for me outside the gate. I went inside, took an umbrella for her as it was very hot and I accompanied her to the bus stop. She stayed far from the school and took the bus to travel.

On the way to bus stop she was saying lot of things. I remembered how talkative she was, one of the reasons I loved her. But I don’t remember half of what she had said. What I do remember is the question that she asked me, “What would do if your little sister started dating at the age of 13 or 14?”

“I won’t interfere in her relationship, I will just tell her to take care of herself. She must put her future as her first priority. Relationships after books,” the whole time she said nothing. And so I continued.

“Do you still remember that day when I called you during the night telling you that I love you?” I fired.

“Yes,” she simply said.

“I knew you were going to say I must come face to face,” I said hoping to get a reaction.

“How did you know?” she asked a bit surprised.

“Do you remember you once told me that you don’t respond to people who propose to you over the phone or those who propose to you while you or they are drunk? You said you’ll tell them to come and tell you face to face.”

She laughed at me. She was surprised that I remembered that conversation.

“I meant what I said when I said I love you. I really do,” I said, pouring out my heart at the bus stop. She laughed at me again and made no comment.

“So what do you say?” I asked looking in her eyes.

“Nothing,” she said.
