The crocs were now savagely attacking anyone and anything in their sight. One guard stormed in reporting, “My queen, the crocs are attacking and are destroying the villages.”

“What about the people?” Prince Khanya asked in shock.

“The bailey managed to accommodate them all,” the guard replied.

A loud bang came from the gates doors and the people responded by screaming.

“Run to the tower!” Prince Khanya shouted.

They all climbed up the towers, meanwhile those who were seated at the table retreated to the great hall. The crocs rammed against the base of the castle and then suddenly a mighty thrust shattered the upper walls causing the queen and Faku to fall into a hole. The crocs surrounded both of them; the queen’s blood stimulating their killing instincts.

As the crocs rushed to them, Faku grabbed the queen, holding her tight and yelled, “Please stop!”

Suddenly there was no motion from the crocs. After a while she raised her head and the queen was amazed by what she saw.

Faku’s black eye was glowing green and the crocodile’s eyes had reflected on it.

The queen stared at her and spoke with a broken voice, “You… you possess the eye of the crocs. You are now the kingdom’s treasure, their saviour, now do as you were destined to.”

With Adrenaline rushing through her veins she dragged the queen back to the bailey and ran to the tallest tower standing,

“I, Faku, sent by the queen command you to go away.”

Nothing happened. She repeated but omitted some words,

“I, Faku, your commander, send you back to the waters never to return unless summoned.” The crocs turned back and headed for the water.

As she returned the entire kingdom cheered for her, but there was still a sense of sorrow as the queen died.

Prince Khanya approached and bowed before Faku, “Will you please make me an honorable man and marry me.”

Faku was speechless.

“But…I’m ugly,” she replied.

“Faku you wield a special eye. You and I, side by side, can protect this kingdom.”

Faku shed a tear and said, “Yes.”

Mthetho and Namhla turned walking away, Faku yelled, “Father for years I have been a burden for you, but today I’m glad to be the only daughter to have given what you truly wanted.”

Mthetho smiled while shedding a few tears, “I’ll be there to walk you down the aisle,” he said.

From the crowd a voice asked, “Your majesty what do we do now?”

Faku replied, “We rebuild!”
