My thoughts were on another level so I must have drifted off to sleep. I felt a hand touching my slim body from my waist. I turned around to find Lloyd sitting on my study chair.
“How did you get in here and when?”
But then I remembered I hadn’t checked if someone was following me. He leaned down for a kiss and I just went for it anyway. Within 30 minutes, the kiss and what followed was over and I went to take a shower as he left. I felt hungry and wondered what had happened to my plate of food. I remembered going to the cafeteria then to the gate, so I must have left my food in Lloyd’s car, but no problem. I might as well go and buy another plate, I thought to myself. I took my purse, put my phone on a charger, and took my key, but realised it was 9 p.m. which meant the cafeteria was closed. I boiled some water, made and ate some Two Minute Noodles and then went to sleep.
Days passed and it was already Friday. I hadn’t heard from Lloyd so I guessed it was the end of us. In no time, my classes were over; we attended college from 8 a.m. to midday on Fridays. Since I met Lloyd, I would spend Friday nights away, but I guess that had changed now. I mean, he never texted me to let me know if there were any plans. I was on my bed, lost in my thoughts, when my phone rang and I answered it without checking the caller.
It was Lloyd. I was told I had to get ready within five minutes. I put my phone on my study table, got ready, then off I went. I got to the gate but I knew none of the cars that were parked outside. Well then, I will need to call him again, I thought, only to find out I had left my phone on my study table. Lloyd came by to get me and I told him I couldn’t leave my phone, so he lent me one of his.
We got to his place and he was alone. Thank goodness his annoying friends weren’t there. Lloyd’s family stayed somewhere in Jo’burg’s suburbs so he was staying alone in Rustenburg even though his wife and kids visited some holidays. I went straight to our room, put my overnight bag there and then took a five-minute break. I dozed off but was woken by the aroma of his home-made food. I took a shower, then we ate our late lunch in peace. After lunch, we had to have our shopping time since we have a date tonight. We got to Waterfall Mall and we were done in no time.
Shopping is cute and sweet when you are with a person of the opposite sex and it is tiring at the same time. I decided to take a shower right after we got home because it was about ten to fifteen minutes’ drive from Waterfall Mall to his place. I changed into my new outfit, he couldn’t stop stealing glances at me and his compliments made my outfit complete, with a smile on my face. Lloyd knew how to make a girl feel special. He was a romantic. I somehow fell for him, but because of his family, I had to keep that to myself.
I thought we were just hanging around Rustenburg, but no, we were on the Pretoria road heading for Pretoria’s CBD. He took me to Indian restaurant and it seemed a bit expensive, not that I worried or cared. I mean, I was not paying for any of this anyway. The food was delicious, I tell you, not to mention the chilled romantic music in the background.
It was late for us to drive back to North West, so he decided it would be better if we found accommodation for the night. We went to sleep at one of his friend’s places in Centurion. Well, the night’s romance was not of a kind, not that I am complaining, but he was chilled like ever before. A phone call from the phone he gave me woke me up. I took it and the caller’s voice sounded familiar.
The lady went on and on about me taking her Lloyd but I will never get away with it. I decided to drop the call and, to my surprise, he wasn’t next to me. It might only mean the caller was right and that Lloyd was with her by then. He was just my sponsor so I let it be and before I could close my eyes for my golden ticket to fantasy world, he got under the covers with me. I did not want to ask him about the call, but it just came out.
