Sirens and the hooting of cars were in the parkade where Max was hiding. The police find him and he lifts his hands high as the police point their guns towards him. A big man who is in a police uniform puts Max in handcuffs.

“I am just doing my job,” Max pleads.

“Who are you?” another policeman asks.

“I am a guard,” he answers.

The big policeman shoves him in a car. Max looks up and saw the other guys’ car driving away.

The big policeman saw Max looking at something and asks him a question. “Do you want to say something?” he asks.

“No,” Max answers, looking down while sitting on the seat. As he presses his hands together, he feels the pain of the cuffs.

“Please, can you un-cuff me? They hurt my hands,” he says in a quiet voice.

“Not yet,” says the policeman.

Just then, the Security company spokesperson, John arrives.

He looks inside the car where Max is, and then talks to one of the police officer. Then, Max’s police officer is called away. About five minutes later, he returns to Max and un-cuffs him. Max gets out of the car and walks towards John.

“Where are the other guards?” asks John.

“They went down to fix the cables because the electricity was tripping,” Max answers, shivering and looking at the ground. The police officers went into the hall holding pistols.

“I think the alarm just went off, I don’t think anything was stolen,” Max tries to be confident.

“We will see about that,” John says, looking at the entrance.

The two guards came running out the hall. Max and John run past them. They look traumatized.

“Are you okay?” Max asks.

They nod their heads. They walk over to the other policeman who are watching the Hall. The big figure police officer known as Dambuza goes over to meet them.

“I need your statement at the police station,” he tells Max.

They went with him to the police station in a police car. Max is quiet but the other three guards, Thato, Itumeleng and Lesiba, are busy talking what they saw.

“Did you see the shadow?” Thato asks.

“Yes I did, it vanished quickly I am not sure it was a person,” Itumeleng answers.

“Are you sure?” Max decides to join their conservation.

“I am not sure,” Itumeleng answers.
