Our crew was called Hyperphonic and it was a boy’s only crew. Then Mpumi joined us and became the only girl. She was a terrific singer so she sang and we rapped. My friends usually called me One More, that was my nickname for being a rapper. When I rap, I would use crazy punch lines and they would usually say, ”One more time!”
I liked my friends more than my biological parents and I spent all my time with them. But Mpumi hated me and I hated her. We were enemies because our fathers were enemies. So the situation with the crew in the beginning was awkward, but it never got out of hand.
My old friends were now my enemies, paper had been my best friend but now I hate it. I even hated water.
I would usually stay absent from school for several days. I was spending time with my friends and Mpumi and I were becoming friendly. I started having feelings for her.
I was obsessed with her, especially when I was paranoid by dagga. My friends were now jealous because she seemed to like me more than she liked them. We fell in love and started a relationship. We both thought it was true love when everyone else said it was blind.
This was not helping matters at home. I was now a bad kid and my mother was confused suddenly. She was always insane with worry because of me, she even treated me weirdly.
It was early in the morning and Mpumi and I had promised each other that we wouldn’t go to school that day. It seemed to be a good day; a bit cloudy and a bit cold like it was about to rain. I just loved the feeling I got when I thought about spending the day with Mpumi.
Suddenly I heard a door of the bathroom closing. It was my mom. “Oh she’s about to go,” I said to myself. I thought for a second that I should tell my mother that I’d be absent at school or I was sick. But would she be okay about that? No, but I must let her know so that she will leave the keys to me, I giggled as I thought to myself.
I was going to face her like a man. She doesn’t scare me. She’s just like a dead snake… My bedroom door was open and as soon as I saw her getting dressed and ready in her room, I followed her.
“Morning mom,” I greeted with a grin on my face.
“Morning, my child. I’m just getting ready, today I have an appointment with the doctor and I may not come back home for dinner,” she said. There was nothing I could say. I was full of happiness!
“Okay mom,” I replied.
“Why aren’t you ready? I think you’re late. Go get ready for school,” said my mom with a serious face. I pretended as if I was getting ready for school. “It’s time to go my child. Make sure your phone is always on,” she insisted.
“I will make sure,” I replied.
“Take care my boy,” she said walking out.
“Bye!” I said with a voice full of joy.
I immediately texted Mpumi to come over.
nw is the ryt time babe.
An hour later I heard a knock on the door. Obviously it was her.
