When I arrived home, I walked straight to my bedroom, took off my uniform and placed it neatly in my wardrobe. All I had on was my underwear. I laid flat on my bed and grabbed my phone, I clicked on my WhatsApp icon and I found that Lewis had made a private WhatsApp group that only had the four of us as members; Lewis, Zanele, Nori and I. So I began to text, Lewis was the only one online.

I’m great. So how do you like Mackintosh High?
I think it’s great, I like the fact that electronic devices are allowed in school.
Yeah, me too, hey here is this cool app, install it. Bye.

It suddenly popped up on my screen and I tapped it and it began to install. When the installation was complete, I clicked the app icon, it read “I’ve got the power”. I tapped the app icon and the weirdest thing happened – my phone began to levitate. I wanted to hide but there wasn’t a place to hide. Then a visible electric spark coming from my phone shocked me. I rubbed my eyes and everything seemed normal; my phone seemed normal and it wasn’t floating anymore.

I thought of sleeping then, I lifted off the ground and onto my bed and my blanket covered me. Then I realised the app made me magical and I had become part of something big. That night I slept peacefully, knowing that I had the power and with my new abilities I could do anything. Suddenly my phone rang.

I wasn’t sure who was calling but I was scared. I mean, the phone just floated in mid-air and now it was ringing? I decided to answer it. I lay on my bed but my phone kept ringing and it wouldn’t stop. So I decided to answer it. Then a robotic voice, like that lady from Google, answered.

“Hello Kay, you’ve got the power, now use it,” the creepy voice said.
Even before I could respond, something that looked like a black hole appeared and sucked me in.

I instantly appeared at some strange place that looked magical like a scene from Manjipoor from the movie The Elephant Princess, and I had mixed feelings when I first saw it. Then the strangest thing happened; I saw Elmer dressed in a grey outfit.

“Hi,” he greeted.

“Why are you in your underwear?”

“What!” I yelled, and I was embarrassed. Elmer laughed.

“Don’t worry. To help Kay take his shame away, give him an outfit that will stay.”

Suddenly, waves of brown magic sparks zapped me and in an instant, I was dressed in my school uniform but my jersey and blazer had a logo of a roaring lion. I was so scared and happy at the same time.

“Follow me,” Elmer said.

“Where?” I asked. But he wouldn’t respond he only smiled, held my hand and took me to a huge hall filled with magical chemicals, wands, computers and lots of chemistry laboratory apparatus.

To my surprise, I saw Lewis, Norimitsu and Zanele who were also dressed in the same outfit as mine.
