The king gave a mighty screech and hundreds of griffins appeared out of nowhere, clad in shiny, iron armour.

“Ahoy, lad!” Lance looked to his left. Goose Goon was clad in beautiful blue armour.

“Ahoy!” Lancewood replied with gusto.

“Your upgrade is impressive Lancewood! But mine is better!” Little Fellow’s griffin descended to his right. He was outfitted in stunning red armour.

“Look to the sky!” yelled Goose Goon.

Seemingly out of nowhere Amber’s griffin swooped down until it was hovering mere inches above Lance and the king griffin. Her blue eyes and black hair were enhanced by her awe-inspiring black armour. She smiled and gave a whoop of joy as her griffin showed what it was like to be a bird. In a matter of seconds Dor-Castrion came into view.

“Damn it!” yelled Lancewood despairingly, “We’re too late!”.

He was right, the dam was bursting. Planks were flying off. Water was spraying everywhere and the people were scrimmaging in a mad panic.

“Oh, young Lancewood, if only you knew what we were capable of,” laughed the griffin king. He sounded a commanding screech and the other griffin screeched in response. “Hold on tight.”

Lance gripped harder.

The griffins followed their king as he began to plummet towards the ground.

“Hell almighty!” Lancewood exclaimed in terror.

Just before they hit the ground the king spread his wings open and abruptly came to a stop. The Dor-Castrion soldiers and King’s guard rushed to attack.

“Wait!” Lancewood vaulted off the griffin, “They have come to help! The dam has been sabotaged by a Snow terrorist! Whatever that is?” The King and the mayor of Dor-Castrion shared a look of pure terror.

“We need to evacuate!” chipped in Little Fellow stating the very obvious, “These griffins can get all of us to safety! Now get your asses moving!”

Lancewood, Goose Goon and Amber looked at Little Fellow shocked. Goose Goon burst into peals of laughter, “You heard the litt’l man! Get a move on!” Little Fellow looked proud of himself.

With the griffins help, the people were quickly organised into groups and airlifted out. They were fast, but not fast enough. The dam burst, planks shattered into a million splinters, water gushed in torrents.

“There are still people down there!” yelled Amber pointing at a family of seven.

Lance quickly did some calculations, “Your highness?” Lancewood said leaning down to the griffin’s ear, “How many people can you carry?”

“Eight,” he said with a moment’s hesitation,

“Good, down there!” he pointed out the screaming family.

“I see them, young Blunt!” he gave a mighty screech as he dived down to the family only seconds from being swallowed by the angry waters. The griffin king caught them at such a speed the family didn’t even know they were safe until, “We got you! Hold on tight!” They did not need the encouragement.

“Help!” Lance heard the plea, so did the griffin king, “You hear that!”

Eyes darting, “There!” the griffin pointed out, “Under the rubble!”

Lancewood scanned the rubble near the edge of the city, “She will die!” Lancewood was conflicted with too many emotions.

“The water is too fast young Blunt! We have seven people she is but one girl!”

He was right, there was already eight on his back, he couldn’t beat the speed of the water with that weight.

“Take them to safety!” Lancewood glanced at the ground below, so far below. “I hate myself.”
