In the marketplace, Sarah tried to buy some food with the little amount on her. She tried her luck with a meat seller whom she already owed money.

“I promise to pay you soon. Just give me some time to get the money,” she explained.

“How can you ask me to give you meat on credit when you have not paid the first you bought? You are nothing but a greedy woman. Poor people like you should not even think of eating meat,” he said.

“Enough already, why are you calling me a poor woman? Just because I have not paid my debt does not make me poor. Presently there is a problem in my family and there is no money. I am not greedy,” she retorted.

“Crazy woman!” the meat seller yelled drawing people’s attention to them. “I don’t need your pep talks, all I want is my money or is that too much to ask?” He continued, “Now leave before I make you,” drawing two huge knives. Sarah stared at the knives, he used them to cut the meat into smaller sizes or break bones. With the look in his eyes, she didn’t want to argue any further and quickly backed away from his stall.

“Next time I come here, I will come with money to pay or my name is not Sarah” she swore.

“We will see about that,” he said.

After walking around the market for some minutes, she started losing hope. She stopped in front of a shop to admire the clothes. Though she had no money on her she entered into the shop.

“If only my husband can afford to buy me clothes and expensive attires.” Sarah sights her neighbour entering the shop.

“This woman is always looking and admiring things that can never be hers,” the woman mumbled. “Nice to see you here,” she said glaring at Sarah from top to bottom. Sarah noticed the look in her eyes and turned back to the clothes.

“The clothes here are nice and always expensive,” she said dragging the last part has she touched the hem of a dress. Sarah dropped the cloth she was holding to leave the shop but was stopped by the woman.

“Why don’t you leave this shop for people who can buy things from it?” the woman said, igniting her already rising anger.

“Just remember that no condition is permanent,” she said not wishing to attract unwanted attention again. While walking out of the shop she could not help but feel sorry for herself. She still needed to find food to buy. It seems like the whole universe is against me today, she thought. Looking around she saw an old woman’s store and went to try her luck.

“I want to buy some provisions. How much is that?” The old woman replied but Sarah’s heart sunk in water. The money on her is way too low. She collected the pack and quickly teared it open. Taking two scoops, she said smiling, “It’s delicious”. “I don’t have up to that amount on me, will you take this?” She handed the money over.

The woman stared at her then to the half-eaten product and then the money on Sarah’s hand. Snatching the money from Sarah’s hand grunting. Sarah darted away.
