Ntokozo and Sabelo were both true bliss to each other. Sabelo was Ntokozo’s perennial bread; she found it easier to breath after she was dating him. Ntokozo realised that the basis of one is love because it’s a complete feeling. Her heart sentenced her to love only one guy. She knew that nothing could ever make her stop loving him even if she wanted to. She wouldn’t even bother trying to love another guy no matter what the situation would be.
Time went on, Thabile was really not happy about Sabelo and Ntokozo’s relationship. Their love was like fire, a big stone that will never be shaken, a tree that will never wither and a fruit that will never dry and shrivel. That was Ntokozo and Sabelo.
Thabile had to put a stop to it.
Thabile was so in love with Sabelo that it was burning her. Seeing him with Ntokozo was gradually killing her. She had to talk to Sabelo, that was the only plan she had. She couldn’t lie about Ntokozo to Sabelo to make him abhor her as much as she loathed her. Ntokozo was almost perfect, any lie about her would be hard to pull through. Although Thabile was still pretending to like Ntokozo but she hated her.
Thabi never thought she would abominate Ntokozo; she was a rattling person but she had a boy Thabile loved so much. Sabelo was handsome; a boy to die for. Thabile had been trying to build bravery to speak to Sabelo and she felt that she was ready and she had that needed courage to talk to him. She took him out of class as if another teacher was looking for him, she wasn’t going to keep him long.
“Trey, I need to talk to you. It’s about Ntokozo and it’s important. Meet me behind the cafeteria first thing during break. And don’t be late,” Thabile didn’t wait for Sabelo to reply she just left him standing there stunned. After a while Sabelo went back to class, he was worried and astounded.
Indeed during break, Sabelo went behind the cafeteria and Thabile was already there waiting for him.
“Trey, I know what I’m about to say will surprise you. But it’s the honest truth. And I want you to believe me,”
Sabelo kept quiet for a minute looking at Thabile, who surprisingly had tears in her eyes.
โSpit it out, I donโt have all day,” Sabelo said starting to get impatient.
Thabile knew this would change everything but that was a risk she was willing to take.
“There is no easy way to say this Trey, but I guess I’m just gonna have to say it. I love you. I know you are with Ntokozo but I think I can give you so much more,”
Sabelo frowned, “Are you brainsick?” he asked in frustration.
“No I’m not,” Thabile gave a weak reply realising this was not going to go her way.
“You are demented, you are not my type,” those words troubled Thabile’s heart.
“At least make me your second best,” Thabile begged.
“I don’t need a second best. Even if I did it wouldn’t be you, you are not my type,” Sabelo left Thabile standing there. She regretted telling him how she felt.
Sabelo went to Zama.
“Hey, have you seen Ntokozo?” asked Sabelo when he saw Zama.
“She was looking for you, I think you’ll find her in one of the classes on the third floor,” Zama replied.
“Okay, please talk to your friend Thabi, she is trying to steal me from Ntokozo, telling me that she can do better than her and she is annoying me. Tell her that she vexes me,” Sabelo left and went to find his girl while Zama went to Thabile.
“Have you lost your mind? You are after Ntokozo’s boyfriend now?” Zama frowned as she asked.
“What must I do Zama? I love him.” Thabi said sadly.
“Thabi you need to promise me that you will stop this nonsense of yours please!”
“I promise,” again Thabile said very sadly.
Time went on and Ntokozo had no idea that Thabile was after her man. What she didn’t know wouldn’t hurt her at least that was what her man and her friends thought. Thabile was really struggling to get over Sabelo although she was trying. Time flies when you are having fun, Ntokozo didn’t feel that year.
Beginning of Grade 10 was different. Thabile was willing to take further steps about the Sabelo matter. She decided to see this man called Gqamuka. Gqamuka was a powerful and well known traditional healer. Thabile thought about this very well. She spent her entire holiday thinking about it.
The place of Gqamuka had amazing dignity and Thabile was frightened. A lot of people paid him a visit so Thabile made sure to wake up very early. Her turn didn’t take long to come.
Gqamuka had big hair that looked like it hadn’t been combed in years. He had also big whiskers that looked like some bird’s home and a big moustache. He had a big stomach as if he was due to give birth the following day. His room had a terrible smell.
“Hey young girl,” Gqamuka greeted Thabile in his hoarse voice.
“Hi sir,” Thabile replied with a shaking voice.
Thabile was so scared, she thought of running away. But she had come this far and her love for Trey was too great. She had to do what she had to get her boy.
