Solomon drove to Mulbarton in search of a girl he fell in love with on the train. It was months ago when he last saw her and he worried she would be married or gone home. He took a chance and went to find her. He still remembered the house he had taken her to and drove there in high spirits. As fate would have it, she was still there. They spent a weekend together and Solomon was once again convinced that this was the love of his life.

He proposed marriage and she accepted. He had a stable job now and was sure he would be able to take care of her and provide for her. He had a place of his own and Carol made frequent visits on her weekends off. They were together for two years before they finally decided to make it official.

When Carol told her parents they weren’t too pleased. They disowned her and called her insults for marrying a man she barely knew from Joburg, a foreigner at that. They cursed the marriage and wanted nothing to do with her. From that day on things started taking a different turn in the lives of Solomon and Carol.

Shortly after they had gotten married, without the blessings from Carol’s parents, the young couple had a baby. Zodwa was a treasure in her parents’ eyes and they were with her 24/7. Solomon was a man who listened to soul music and read books a lot. He wrote down quotes and inspirational lines he would get from some of the books he was reading. Every night he would read a quote to Zodwa from his book when he tucked her into bed.

On Zodwa’s third birthday things changed for the worse. Solomon was on his way home from work and got into an accident. The driver of the other vehicle was drunk. Solomon was seriously injured and spent two months in ICU at the hospital. The family started struggling as Carol was not working anymore. She was spending time between the hospital and taking care of Zodwa. Life was unbearable without Solomon and Carol had no other family. She was worried that Zodwa will never have a better life. She started thinking about going back home.

Tell us what you think: Do you believe in curses, can a person change another’s destiny by speaking good or bad things upon their lives? If Carol went back to her family, would they take her back?
