Days passed on without either Mangoshia or Gunte meeting up with her. One day as they knocked off from school Mangoshia met up with her and her friend on their way home from school, they were walking down the same road.

“Hey.” Mangoshia spoke.

The girls didn’t respond, they just continued walking.

Mangoshia spoke again. Thoko responded harshly but with a soft voice. They exchanged some words until Thoko said farewell to her friend.

“My mother wants me to go run errands. I need to get some vegetables at the market,” Thoko said and Doreen was left alone with Mangoshia.

A moment lapsed and neither of them spoke, they exchanged glances and smiles.

“I know I made a mistake. It wasn’t my plan to hurt you, I hope you know that. I er…er…beg for your forgiveness,” he said.

“Already forgiven…OK?! Please don’t remind me of that again,” she spoke, smiling.

“I spoke like that because I’m in trouble. You reported the matter to your parents and they later told my dad and he said he will punish me if I’m not attending to my needs as a student,” the boy spoke with a soft voice.

“No, your father is a good man, he can’t do that. If that is the case then I will feel sorry for you,” she said.

They talked as if they were already friends.

“You know, I sent my speech through somebody but you didn’t listen to him. Now it’s my turn, I should speak to you. Since I saw you I was afraid of speaking to you but now I’m supposed to. Hence you have been told a lot by him, I will just conclude.”

Mangoshia then told the girl all his needs. Doreen glanced at Mango angrily and happily at the same time.

“I will answer you by next week. Have a nice weekend,” she whispered as she walked the other direction towards her home.
