When Lieutenant Vee woke up he was tied to a chair. His hands were bound to the armrests and his feet were tied to the front legs of the chair. He was still dazed and a little bit confused.

The Wingman was a dead name, a name of a long dead pirate of the land who faded into folk tales a long time ago. Lieutenant Vee was now a respected member of the community and his family, friends and colleagues thought highly of him. His quadrant knew all about his past, they actually fuelled that side whenever they saw an opportunity to score easy money. He had money to last him three life times and didn’t have a wife and kids, but he would do it for his men.

Lieutenant Vee thought of a way to send word to his quadrant so they could track him down and rescue him. He knew trying to contact his brother would probably be the death of him. He knew very well that his brother was not that good at tactical ops. He may as well call the angel of death himself instead of asking for maThousan’s help.

It was up to Lieutenant Vee to rely on his wits and courage to get out of this alive. What bugged him the most was the fact that one of his captors called him by his pirate name. He was more than a gangster when he ran with his old crew led by “the captain” King Brutas himself. They made plenty of money, but after too many close-calls, they broke up just when Lieutenant Vee was appointed first mate.

He only got to be first mate for nine months and learned the ins and outs of the whole operation even after the captain vanished from the face of the earth. Some people believed that the Wingman knew of his whereabouts and they kept bugging him for a while, till he moved away and started a new life. He dedicated himself to his work which helped him recover from his old self destructive ways.

Lieutenant Vee dozed off for a while and before he knew what hit him he was woken up by ice-cold water being dumped on his head. He felt the need to scream, but then decided not to because he didn’t see the point in doing so.

A voice came from behind him.

“Mr Wingman, sorry to have brought you to my lair without your consent, but I had to move quickly. I received word that you were going to be assassinated at your camping trip but I didn’t know by whom. All I have are voice recordings and photographs and the thing is, you have some information I need. And in return, I will make sure the people who are looking for you are dealt with properly.”

The man continued.

“Unless you would rather take a different approach then I am up for that too? If you give me exactly what I want then I’ll make sure you’re well taken care of, without a hitch.”

Lieutenant Vee saw that this may actually have been his lucky charm. At least these guys aren’t looking to physically hurt him, which was okay in his book, but they also wanted to know about the Captain. Hopefully they didn’t want to know of his whereabouts because only two people knew of the Captain’s whereabouts; the Wingman and the supplier.

“My brother, I am looking for the supplier and he sold us out, he got the Captain killed and we need to know of his whereabouts. There’s no need to tell me now though. How about you take a sip of this water and we’ll talk at a later time,” said the man.

He took the mouth gag off Lieutenant Vee’s mouth and helped him drink the water. Lieutenant Vee was so thirsty that he didn’t even notice that the water tasted funny until it was too late. He started drooling and passed out with his mouth wide open.
