Ntando was only 21 years old, and he never had a girlfriend. He was saving himself for marriage, as required and expected by his chosen religion. There were certain foods he was not allowed to eat, like pork and turkey. Both him and his mother belonged to the same church and were happy. His mother had always wanted him to marry a girl from their church. She feared that people would treat them differently should Ntando choose a wife elsewhere. People didn’t like living a life subjected by rules, especially girls of today. She was more than happy when Ntando showed no interest to girls.

He was wanted side by side by girls but he was not interested. He was unemployed although he had a Diploma in Marketing. Had he been employed girls would be all over him even more. But he kept praying for the job, he needed it. His was under pressure because of his age. He was at the right age to start thinking about marriage. He had too much love to give but no woman to give it to. He loved and admired nature, people and animals.

After he had written his poem he smiled, “God thank you so much for the talent you gave me. I am going to use it to praise You,” he prayed softly. Right after that, his cell phone rang. He felt as if that call was personally from God. Like he was going to tell him how he feels and what he thinks about the poem Ntando just wrote.

“Hello,” Ntando answered the cell phone.

“Ntando, take your C.V to Virgin Active tomorrow. Look for Mr, Rejesh Naido and give it to him,” instructed the voice on the phone.

“Thank you, but who are you?” Ntando asked the caller.

“Just do that, okay?” The caller hung up immediately

“Virgin Active? Who was that man?” Ntando asked himself. He was alone at his house and this call caught him by surprise. It bothered him that he didn’t know the caller and that the caller didn’t identify himself. He knew it was a man though, a man without a name.

He paged his phone and went to his received calls. The number that called him was there on top of the list. He called it back.

“The number you have dialled does not exist. Please recheck the number and dial carefully.”

He was shocked. He did what the woman was telling him to do. He rechecked the number but it was the same number that called him. He called again and again and a woman told him the number does not exist. He got confused and started asking himself questions. Who was this man really? Should he go to Virgin Active? Was this some kind of a sick joke?
