Because she loved him so much, she always did her best not to disappoint Kind. Charlene was a 20-year-old, respecting and beautiful young girl who really did what was expected of her by her parents, especially her mother. Her mother knew and blessed her relationship with Kind. Charlene’s mother never gave Kind a hard time because he was a respecting and loyal young-man.

Charlene had her only best friend, Charlotte. They did everything together and were always together if Charlene wasn’t with Kind, like always. They were all doing their final graduate year at Varsity, and they were in their last month of the year and a few weeks from graduation day. They were forever hard workers and expected the best in their results.

On the other hand, the boys were organising a goodbye party, which the Principal approved. Everyone was in a jovial mood, with the girls busy with preparations of what to wear and who was to be their date. Like all girls, they thought it was their opportunity to show off their partners. Kind thought otherwise, as he knew Charlene was his Cinderella, and therefore he knew he was covered, but little did he know the truth.

Kind had it all planned for the day, but Charlene and Charlotte had it all fixed. They had told themselves that goodbye parties were all about drinking alcohol and boys pushing their girls into having sex. They both agreed they weren’t going. Kind went to see Charlene at her place. He just wanted to make sure they were up for it. He was disappointed when Charlene explained to him that her mother hadn’t approved of the whole thing. Charlene was lying because she didn’t know how to explain why exactly she couldn’t go to the goodbye party. Kind respected her so much, and so he complied.

The next day, Kind’s friends were going ballistic about the party and bragging about who they were going to bring as their date, and also how nice it would be there. Kind felt the edge and had a plan. He was pretty sure it would work, although he was about to be shocked by what he was about to hear. When they knocked off, he went straight to Charlene’s place, therefore leaving Charlene at school. He was going to see Charlene’s mother about permission to take Charlene to the party. He really laid his story so well that it was too good. Charlene’s mother agreed and told Kind that Charlene hadn’t told her anything about the party.

Just before the end of the conversation, Charlene walked in and heard them talking about the party, but it was too late because her mother had already given permission for her to go. So, she went out to accompany Kind, and she explained to him that Charlotte had come up with the idea. Now friendship was being tested. Charlene didn’t say anything to Charlotte, and Kind never gave much attention to it, and so never asked Charlotte why. So, life just went on, with Charlotte knowing that Charlene wasn’t going, and Charlene thought as much, but they were wrong.
