Kevin chose the day Herold would finally die, he chose the 17th of August 2015. This day had some special meaning to Kevin. It was the day his father died. Now it would be Herold’s.

Tyson was finally able to track Herold’s whereabouts since he could no longer afford the residence he was staying at. Kevin met with Carl to buy some weapons from him. John gave him a ride to 15 Crescent Sun Valley- AKA Herold’s house. Kevin asked John to leave the car and go back home in case things get out of control and the police arrested him. Kevin promised John to come back from all of this, John promised Kevin to take care of his family if he didn’t make it out alive.

It was time for the final piece of the puzzle to be added. Kevin arrived at Herold’s house dressed like a plumber. He knocked at Herold’s door and Herold answered. Herold didn’t recognise Kevin because he last saw him as a toddler. Herold pointed Kevin to the bathroom where the drainage pipes was leaking.

Pretending to be busy, Kevin opened his tool box which contained nothing but state-of-the-art weaponry. Herold took Kevin for an ordinary plumber and continued watching his favourite TV show WWE. Kevin prepared his gun slowly and carefully. He wanted to remember this moment.

Kevin started a conversation with Herold intentionally.

“Are you an electrician? ‘cos I see you have certificates on your wall?” asked Kevin casually.

“Was. My company collapsed due to lack of capital.” Herold replied.

“That’s a shame, your company was popular.”

Herold looked surprised and asked how Kevin knew that.

Kevin said, “I had a close relationship with one of your former employees. Charles James.”

Herold’s eyes grew in fear. “Ho.. How do you kn… know him?” stuttered Herold.

“I’m his son. Kevin James.” Said Kevin reaching for his gun.

Herold panicked and tears started rushing down his face.

“Okay, here’s what’s going to happen- we are going to play a game of Truth or Dare. You are going to tell me why you did what you did or you’ll be tortured.” Explained Kevin pointing the gun at Herold. Herold nodded yes, while Kevin tied him to a chair. He was too afraid to protest.

Kevin asked in a calm voice, “Why didn’t you pay my father what was due to him?”

“We owed your father a lot of money. If we paid him back then we would have lost the company to him.” said Herold with teary eyes.

“So you sacrificed his life for money in other words?”

“I’m sorry things turned out this way, I had no choice….” Herold pleaded.

“Do you know what I had to go through all those years?! Do you know how much I wanted to see this day, the day I would look you dead in the eye then kill you. I lost my dad because of you Herold. My father died because of you and your greediness. You deserve to burn in hell.”

“I’m really sorry. Please forgive me okay. Please don’t kill me.” Herold begged.

“I’m not God, I don’t forgive.” Kevin said. “It’s time you felt some pain!” yelled Kevin and stabbed Herold in his leg.

Herold shouted in pain and agony. Kevin pulled out a 9mm silence pistol and aimed it at Herold’s head. Herold’s neighbour witnessed the events and notified the police. As Herold said his last prayers, Kevin could hear police sirens coming towards Herold’s house.

Kevin pulled the trigger. Some of Herold’s blood splattered on his clothes and in different directions. There was no time to clean up. Kevin gathered all his weapons and put them in the toolbox and fled.

The police found Herold’s lifeless body, but no signs of forced entry. There was no murder weapon and prints. As a law student, Kevin knew that without any evidence, nothing could be done and no one would be held responsible.

Kevin arrived at John’s place. John helped him get rid of all the equipment. While they were burning the clothes that Kevin wore. It was then Kevin realised that he forgot the rope he used to tie Herold on the chair. That rope could mean the end for Kevin. It had Kevin’s prints on it and it was a matter of time before the police started knocking on Kevin’s door.

The police arrested Kevin a week later. He was charged with murder. Kevin called Isabel to let her know what had happened. Kevin took a gamble with his freedom. He knew that the law faculty at his university was doing practical work out in the field and so he chose Isabel to represent him in court.

The trial started a few days later and Isabel showed her best in court. She argued for Kevin’s innocence. She argued that even though Kevin had motive and his prints were all over the rope, he only killed Herold because of what he had has done in the past. Isabel also mentioned how the police were dragging their feet in terms of Herold paying Mr Charles James’s money. If the police had done their job, this case would have been long avoided.

The day of the verdict came and a judgment was made. Kevin was found guilty of the premeditated murder of Herold Van Wyk and was sentenced to 15 years in prison with possibility of parole.

A few days later Isabel filed for an appeal and was granted. Kevin’s sentence was reduced to 7 and a half years. It was a sad moment in court as the Nazi gang members bid their leader farewell. They chanted and praised Kevin.

Kevin was not terrified of prison like first time offenders. He knew that he was safe. The Nazi’s were allies with a notorious prison gang. The gang knew Kevin and they heard what he had accomplished outside the prison and were proud.

Kevin was released two years early due to good behaviour. He couldn’t practice law as he had a criminal record, but Kevin didn’t care about being a lawyer. He just wanted to kill Herold, but was unfortunate to get arrested.

Kevin still needed money to make ends meet. He thought of studying electrical engineering and opening an electrical repairs and installation company. He took the course and completed it. He called a meeting with all members of the Nazi members and told them to study electrical engineering and work for him.

Kevin explained to the Nazi members that violence doesn’t solve everything as he had thought. Spending so much time in prison gave him the time to the think about his decisions. Kevin said that it was now his goal to reduce gang violence and his wish was that his members would follow him despite the big and life changing step. It was time to build a better life for themselves.
