“Are you okay back there?” Fana asks Cindy, checking the rear-view mirror.

“I’m just scared Fana, where are we going?” her voice is shaky.

“Hey, I’m here, don’t be scared.”

He drives all the way towards the city and finally stops at Dozi’s flat. He drops Cindy off and asks her to wait for him there. He then drives like a maniac, going back to Cindy’s house. He goes and and knocks on the door.

“You! Do you know what you have done?” asks an older woman while opening the door, just enough for her head to peek outside.

“Yes ma’am, I am very aware of it. You must be her mother, I’m Freedom Khumalo,” he tries to peek inside the house to see if Zulu is there, his car is parked outside.

“He drove after you, he left his car and took Cindy’s.” The woman opens the door for Fana but he can’t go in now that Zulu is out there, after Cindy.

“Please come in quickly,” she pulls him by his hoodie and shuts the door behind him. “Please tell us, what are your plans with him? That man is crazy you know, he kept us hostage the whole day, said he’ll release us when Cindy gets back. She went out with you.”

“So you do know how he has been treating your daughter?”

“Yes,” says a man sitting on the other sofa. He is brushing his big belly with one hand while the other is doing something up on his head. “We couldn’t report him cause we didn’t want anything bad happening to our daughter.”

“I should be going. If I don’t call in 30 minutes please call the police and give them this address,” he writes Dozi’s address and gives it to Cindy’s mom.
