It had been months since I last spoke with the Devil. This time, she had sent her minions, Abaddon, as a messenger.

The demon said, “Father wants an offering.”

“What offering?”

“A fresh new born baby to eat, and if you fail to do so you will lose all your fortunes,” said the demon.

I was shocked. Even though I no longer had my soul but I still had a little bit of my humanity left in me. A man with no soul like me, an empty shell of a being, who does not eat, feel or sleep. I prayed to God for help. I wished Daniel Webster could be my attorney to get my soul back.

I lost everything and I went back to square one. The devil visited me again.

“I want my soul back.”

“Excuse me, you want what? This soul is mine and we made a deal.”

There was a third male voice. It was Michael; the powerful archangel who had banished Lucifer from heaven.

He said, “Deal or no deal you do not own this man. You took advantage of a man who lost his wife and son.”

“What a pleasant surprise, big brother. Heaven is really treating you good hey. I see you found yourself a handsome dark hair hunk of a vessel. This man, we made a deal between us, unless you want to be my right hand man,” she said.

“You flatter yourself too much. I will never join you or defy Father. Uriel is not exactly a saint but he is still a child of God; and to give him away to you would be a hell of a mistake. He must choose whose side he is on. If he chooses you then he is yours. But if he chooses me, then you shall give him back his soul and you shall stay the hell away from him.”

I saw the resentment between these two. The fight was about me.

The Devil smiled. “I know Uriel will choose me. He will do it for his dead wife and child. He knows I am his master. He will never breach the contract. You think this is heaven where you and your Father banished me. Well, this is Earth and I am the ruler of this universe. These naive humans worship me and sell their souls to me.”

“If it weren’t for father, mandating me to not end you, you would not be here. And I have that strong desire to kill you. When judgment day comes, just know your days of wickedness will be no more. I will put you to permanent death; and it’s a fact not a threat.” he said

I broke the confrontation and I said, “I choose God and I want my soul back. I made a mistake by selling my soul for materialistic things that are temporary. You used my dead wife to get to me. I’d rather die destitute than work for you. Thank you, Archangel Michael for saving me. I did not deserve all of that.”

I saw disappointment in the Devil’s face as she frowned.

She gave me back my soul and thanks to Michael, I never saw or heard from the Devil again.

I lived a faithful, simple life, where I lived in peace knowing that God loves me and his love for me is everlasting. I will never doubt he’s greatness and he’s existence. My soul is valuable and that makes me special to the devil.

The devil does not love us and he uses us to get to God. All I can say is never sell your soul for fake gold; no matter how much you try to outwit the devil. He always wins.
