A few hours later, Monroe was still fast asleep. His mother was sitting next to him in a room that Lindi had put them in. While sitting next to her son, Mrs Jacob was thinking about her late husband, and she couldn’t believe that she would never see him again. Earlier that day, everything had been perfect. They had seen their old friends after many years of not seeing them, and that was very nice for them.

Mrs Jacob and her husband had been married for over ten years, and they had been nothing but happy throughout those years. Even when they had Monroe, their marriage had begun having a strong bond between them. Just few days prior to that day, they were discussing having a second child in order to strengthen their family with more responsibilities.

While she was thinking about her past, Mrs Jacob felt herself getting on the verge of crying. She looked at her boy and kissed his cheek. He was now the only thing that would remind her of her late husband. She brushed his hair and, while she was busy, there was a knock on the door.

“Yes.”

The door swung open, and the man who had welcomed them earlier walked in with a smile on his face.

“Mrs Jacob,” the man said. “I didn’t get the chance to introduce myself earlier. My name is Nicholas, but everyone here calls me Nick. I am the leader of this team.”

Mrs Jacob nodded her head and looked back at her son.

“Lindi told me about your husband, I’m really sorry, Mrs Jacob.”

Mrs Jacob closed her eyes for a second and nodded her head again. “Lindi tells me there might be other children like my son.”

“Yes, that’s true, but we’re still trying to find them,” Nick said, sounding rather serious. “If your son was born, then we’re certain there are others who were born too, and our job as the protectors is to make sure the Creas don’t get their hands on them. It will be safer for all of us if they don’t.”

“So it’s just the four of you guys?”

“Here in South Africa, yes. But each country in the world has a team of the protectors of its own.”

“So the other children that are like my son are spread all over the world? And so are the Creas?” Mrs Jacob asked.

“We believe so. But your son is the first of his generation. We haven’t heard anything from the other protectors as yet, but the more kids like your son that are born, the more of these Creas there will be. But don’t worry, we’re prepared for them when that happens.”

“What will happen when you get the children? Will you hide them for the rest of their lives?”

“No. We have a highly classified place that the protectors have built. So, once we get the children, we will take them there and they will be educated and get training on how to control their abilities.”

While the two were busy talking, Lindi walked into the room carrying a black bag. “I’m leaving,” she said. “It’s time to deal with Mr Jones.”

Nick and Lindi then excused themselves from the room in order to talk privately.

“Make sure you find out about the Crea before you eliminate him,” Nick said as soon as he and Lindi were out of the room.

“Of course,” Lindi responded.

“Do you need back up?”

“No, I can handle it.”

“Be careful,” Nick said, giving Lindi a parting nod of the head.

After talking with her boss, Lindi walked out of the warehouse and went back to the Mercedes.
