From the lips of a serpent dressed in a lovely coat,
That blinds my sight to its devious ways.
I was ecstatic to hear the word ‘love’ directed at me.
Till the coat was blown away by the wind,
All that was left were scales and sharp teeth that pierce,
Not only into my skin but the depth of my heart.
The word that once gave me dreams has brought me pain.
Indeed love has broken me.
