Raised by warriors I feel invincible.
Raised not knowing how to lie,
I speak the truth.
Raised to talk about how I feel,
My shoulders carry no burdens.

I ask my mother to make something to eat,
Not because a woman’s place is in the kitchen.
She’s a Chef, she’s passionate about food.
She’s always coming up with interesting dishes.

I always find myself on the grass
Screaming in agony
As my big sister smiles above me.
She’s a rugby player,
I help with her training.
Lately I’ve been avoiding our training sessions,
She tackles too hard.

I treat my little sister like an egg.
I’m no misogynist,
She’s carrying a life in that big tummy of hers.
I know she will blackmail me into washing her feet today,
She always does.
