He wakes up and
Just sits there as the day goes
From sunrise to sunset.
Feeling numb and detached,
He moves through that house
Like a ghost.
Hope is lost,
He stares through the window
Like a prisoner imagining a free life.
That cellphone he used to stare at
Hoping for an important call
Lies there on the floor
With a low battery.
His friends call, he never answers.
Feeling hopeless and worthless,
He hides from the world.
His big sister cried
When he was accepted to varsity,
She cried when he graduated
And now she still cries.
She cries to God begging he finds a job.
Feeling lonely and sad,
He ties a rope on the horizontal pole on the roof.
His lifeless body swings on the rope as his big sister returns from work.
