The simpler the better
Written like a letter
With words made sweeter
Like the sound of a guitar

I read poetry back at school
Though my teacher called me a fool
Because of the poets’ tool
Which always made me lose my cool

Honestly, I hardly got the message
On each and every passage
The English used was too old
Not acceptable to be spoken, I was told

It was just mind torture
But named a kind lecture
I admit that I love it when it is read
But to read it myself would break my head

No wonder I write simple ’til I reach my grave
For I can’t hide the message inside the cave

The simpler the better
Written like a letter
