My skin is as rich
As the Colours of Africa
Its taste lingers on the tongue
Of the sun and hides in the
Darkness of clouds that
Never overstay their visit .
My thirst can only be quenched by the Nile river.
My happiness flows from Cairo to Cape Town,
Harare to Mbabane, and from Jozi to Lagos.
My valleys are as wide
As the curves of my hips
That hugs the pride of my
Concealed wealth beneath
My forest of many colours
My mother tongue is as deep and as rich
As the soil that fortified my cot,
Its wild berries as sweet as the milk I suckled.
