If it does not move, shake, elevate
And evaporate your heart
When it does not spark something
If it does not empower and mother you
It does not deserve to be labelled as a poem.

A poem does something to your life,
If you are dead, it can make you feel alive,
It sets you free when you are caged and bottled.

It is established to revive
Written to survive,
Words that mesmerise
Messages that fertilise,
Then that,
Deserves to be labeled as a poem.

A poem questions everything,
It does not favour or fear,
It plants seeds in your brain
And you’ll bear fruits by behaving differently,
You’ll have to feel thunder and storm,
Then you will know that you are reading a poem
