Please take my shoes and feel how it’s like to walk on them,
I am not expecting you to even walk a kilometre,
A few metres will do.
In fact, take just one shoe and walk on it.

Don’t walk on them for pretence unity,
Don’t put them on to feel sorry for me,
And please
Do not put them on just because you feel obligated to take one for the team.
But rather put them so you can understand my deep end,
Put them on to feel the lifetime heat that I walk on.
Put them on to feel how it’s like to be expected to run a race
With people who are wearing perfect fit runners,
While you have on torn shoes with loose laces

That can’t be tied properly anymore,
And still be expected to somehow win.
Try them on,
Maybe you will get it.
