I’ve been through a lot of pain, tears and torture.
All my sufferings in chains,
binding my freedom and happiness.
Trying to break me down
but never succeeding.
Did my African beauty
and nature offend you?
My kinky-high hair,
my chocolate skinned
caramel tanned complexion?
Or is it my awesome figure and pride?
The way I hold my head up high with dignity?
Or the beauty and intelligence of my culture
or my joy of being African?

Answer me … did all this offend you?
Well, here’s what:
I am proudly African
and have no shame about my continent,
country, culture or the colour of my skin.
If you have any judgment,
please judge yourself
because in my point of view,
you’re the one in the wrong
and not me.
