My mind keeps fiddling with me,
Hoping to find but I keep falling
Like a toddler looking for someone to catch me.

I’ve seen murky shallow puddles,
No smooth ride like a jockey with no settle.
My life is a puzzle waiting to be complete
Yet some pieces seem to not fit.

A frail spark burning in the berths of the dark,
Lightning struck like a toothless shark awaiting death.

I give birth to the words I speak
And nurture them like a bad habit,
My body feels warm but my heart is cold,
Like whiskey on the rocks.

My mind is a sponge looking for wisdom to absorb,
These scars tell stories of high time like a fallen snob.
Sobered up, I turn my struggles to the fuel that keeps me all fired up.
