Physically? Well, yes, we are not strong but
Intellectually, emotionally and probably spiritually,
We are much stronger
Is it so much of our fault that we can’t fight back?
We are scared to death just by being
In a closed space alone with a man
We have to look over our shoulders wherever we are
Fear has colonised our brains
The fear of being raped, killed
Every three seconds a woman is raped
We live with lifetime scars
Yet speaking out scares us
We are scared of being judged by our fellow women
We are inhumanely treated
Our crime is that we are women
Dear Africans, stop gender-based violence!
One day it could be your daughter, sister or even mother.
