I apologise for the things I should have said
I know I vowed to be the mouth of the voiceless
But I failed, I’m sorry.

I apologise to the women who were beaten in my presence
When I turned a blind eye and gave my cold shoulder,
I failed to walk my talk.

To the children that were snatched in my sight, in daylight
When I saw a son’s brutality over his gleaming shark teeth
Showing the bitterness that is hidden over the seasoned sweetness,
I saw it, I apologise.

The threatening looks they gave when they saw I was watching,
The punches and kicks that flew to my tiny body, coughing out blood
The ICU and graveyard transport they showed for if I tell,
They scared me.
I had no choice but I feared for my life.

I’m sorry!
