Words will never even begin to describe how grateful I am for this man.
It was eighteen years after my father denied me when I met him.
As much as I resented men; something about him told me he was different;
That he was not going to harm or hurt me, so I let him in.
He was old enough to be my father, and that’s all he ever wanted;
To be my father, and for me to be his daughter.
I never knew words could heal someone’s pain, until he said to me,
“Don’t worry my daughter, all is well.”
I looked at him with tears in my eyes, and from that day on,
I knew that love doesn’t have to be biological to be genuine.
