Deception, I would say,
Is when he fetches you from your peace
And tells you that he loves you
Yet trying to use you to fulfil
His sexual frustrations

I would say is when
He closes your eyes
And brings out thorned roses
And installs them in your heart
By words of beauty

I say it’s when
He wears a smile before he kisses you
Did I say kiss?
No, I meant when he is lead into biting your tongue
So you can lose your voice
Over his wicked abuses

They say it’s when
He wraps his hands around your waist
Those same hands that wrapped
Your best friend’s bosom

But I believe it’s when
He promises to never hurt you
And to love you truly
Yet slowly deteriorating
Your blessed womanhood
And blames your brokenness
On your humbleness
