I speak from the mind
I write from the heart
Is overwriting a crime or
is it considered out of line?
I’m sorry, I never run out of lines.
Fourteen lines exceeded, it’s no longer a sonnet, they say.
My poem is judged on strict principles so I shall not say much.
For poetic justice they pray.
I pray it’s poetic or rather “sonnetic” freedom they’ll gain.
If not we’ll always be fourteen more lines away.
If not, if not, we’ll be fourteen lines short.
Too many lines, we’ll have to abort.
A number of lines wasted
and I still haven’t made sense, it’s sad.
Forgive me for this was almost a sonnet, my bad.
Judge me not, for this is now just a street anthem.
