It’s break time and Brian approaches Ayanda and Candy.
AYANDA: I don’t know what Brian sees in that girl. He’s always glued to her.
CANDY: The expected, right!
AYANDA: What do you mean by that?
CANDY: Birds of a feather flock together… why would he hang out with mean and idiotic people like you?
AYANDA: (Surprised) I’ll let that pass, for now. But I love him so much. I have to do something to win his attention.
CANDY: And your next plot would be to kill Arco?
AYANDA: And that wouldn’t be a problem, right?
CANDY: Geez, Ayanda, and you really that evil?
AYANDA: Come on, girl. Do you really think I can do that!
CANDY: Right now, you’re capable of anything.
AYANDA: Wow! The people we call friends.
Brian walks in.
AYANDA: (Fixes herself) Look what the cat just dragged in.
BRIAN: (Angry and annoyed) How long are you planning on keeping up this façade?
AYANDA: Hello to you too, Brian. (She gives him a fake smile).
BRIAN: Get your act together, Ayanda.
AYANDA: So tell me, to what do I owe this pleasure?
BRIAN: Why can’t you stay away from Arco, huh? What has she done to you? For God’s sake.
AYANDA: Wow, so your girlfriend just came running and crying to you? Airing out our little “dirty laundry”.
BRIAN: “Little”? Oh, come on, Ayanda. Get off your high horse. And FYI, Arco is my friend, not my girlfriend.
AYANDA: The same difference. Still, I didn’t know she was such a coward. Running to a boyfriend, such a crybaby. Oh, how small!
BRIAN: (Annoyed) You know if you at least had a filter between your brain and mouth to watch what you say. It might be one of your disabilities, perhaps.
AYANDA: (Pissed) Don’t you dare insult me like that.
BRIAN: Thank you. I’m glad you at least still have some sense and feel insulted. I thought you don’t feel what you always make others feel.
Ayanda feels ashamed.
AYANDA: (Trying to defend herself) You know that’s emotional blackmail.
BRIAN: And it’s working, right? (He fakes smile).
AYANDA: (Looks guilty) You know what, I hate being frightened because…
BRIAN: Ayanda, you better stop all this nonsense because it’s really taking its toll on her.
AYANDA: Serves her right.
BRIAN: You know, Ayanda, if you ever try anything to Arco, I dare you!
AYANDA: Jeez, no need to get salty. I was just saying…
BRIAN: Just saying, really?
AYANDA: (Showing a face of guilt) Do we really have to make a big issue out of this. I heard you and I’ll stop.
BRIAN: You can’t just lash out at everyone who does better than you. Jealousy suits no one.
AYANDA: Don’t lecture me on what I should or shouldn’t be doing with my life. I said I will stop.
BRIAN: (Turns to Candy) And you Candy, I thought you knew better. Clearly I was wrong.
Candy is in shame and is unable to talk.
BRIAN: You’re just another one of Ayanda’s lapdogs. Desperate to do whatever she tells you. Just to beg for friendship.
CANDY: You know that’s not true, Brian.
BRIAN: I thought you knew better Candy…and as for you Ayanda, you’re cuckoo. (As he goes away).
Both friends are left there with a bucket of shame and guilt.
Tell us: Do you think Ayanda will change her ways?
