(Later that evening, at the Nxumalo house, MaMkhwanazi, Melusi, Buhle and MaNxumalo are in the shrine room, sitting in a circle on a red cloth. They are all wearing plain black robes, and their faces are painted in red. In the centre of the circle lies the corpse of the middle-aged woman Thabani had dug up.)

MaNxumalo: (Speaking in a witch’s voice.) Where is Thembani, we are about to feast?

MaMkhwanazi: (Yelling in a witch’s voice.) Themabani.

(On the same night, Thembani is sleeping in a tent meant for boys at the camp. The voice of his mother then echoes, and Thembani’s spirit exist his sleeping body. The spirit is dressed in the same black robe as his mother, and its face is painted red. It floats then disappears.)

(Back at the Nxumalo house, Thembani appears beside his mother.)

MaNxumalo: (With an evil smile and speaking in a witch’s voice.) Asidleni.
