(It’s after school and there’s a knock on the door at Mr Richard’s house.)

Megan: Hey!

Mr Richards: You made it.

Megan: Wow, beautiful home.

Mr Richards: But it is not as beautiful as you are.

Megan: Excuse me?

Mr Richards: Come on. Don’t act smart with me.

Megan: Maybe it was a bad idea coming here (she stands up).

Mr Richards: Where do you think you’re going? (He grabs her by her hips)

(Megan screams.)

Mr Richards: Nobody will hear you. You’re wasting your time

(He pulls Megan to his bedroom, lays her on his bed and rapes her.)

After an hour:

Mr Richards: That was perfect. The best I’ve ever had.

Megan: I… I… I… (she’s crying)

Mr Richards: Come on. I know those are tears of joy!

Megan: Why me?

Mr Richards: Why you? Look at you. Who wouldn’t want you? Those smooth breasts, curved hips and the way you smell.

Megan: What’s next?

Mr Richards: Nothing. Just leave. Maybe I’ll add that 2% on your Maths mark, but I can do much more if you give me what I want. (He smiles and grabs her by the waist)

Megan: Leave me alone!

(Megan exits the house. She’s walking home, legs covered with blood and she’s crying. A red GTI passes, then reverses and a young white man steps out.)

Gavin: Good evening, are you okay?

Megan: I am… I am… (She cries)

Gavin: Come, get inside the car. I’ll take you somewhere safe.

(She enters the car and Gavin takes her to his mother’s house.)

Mrs Loop: Gavin! Who is she? What happened?

Gavin: Mother, I don’t know. I found her walking alongside 4th Avenue.

Mrs Loop: Doesn’t she have a phone so we can phone her relatives?

Gavin: Ma’am, what’s your name?

Mrs Loop: Let me get her cleaned up.

Gavin: Thanks.

30 minutes later

Megan: Thanks for everything.

Gavin: No problem.

Megan: By the way, I’m Megan Isaac. I stay in Bellville Park.

Mrs Loop: How did you end up here?

Megan: I was invited by someone.

Mrs Loop: Oh! Then why were you bleeding when my son found you?

Gavin: Mother! I don’t think it’s any of our business!

Megan: It’s okay, I was… (She starts to cry)

(Gavin comforts her by wrapping his arms around her.)

Gavin: It’s OK. I understand. You’ll talk when you’re ready.

Megan: Thanks.

Mrs Loop: Okay, love birds.

(Megan smiles.)

Gavin: Wow! Your smile is beautiful.

Megan: Thank You.

Mrs Loop: It’s very rude of my son and I not to introduce ourselves. I’m Mrs Loop and this is my handsome son, Gavin.

Megan: Pleasure meeting you. I think I should go home now.

Mrs Loop: Not so fast. Have dinner with us?

Megan: I would love to.

(Megan eats dinner with the Loop family, and later Gavin gives her a lift home. The two exchanged numbers and became friends.)

(A few days later, Megan goes to the clinic and finds out that she is “HIV” positive and pregnant, but luckily Gavin is there with her.)

Gavin: It’s not the end of the world!

Megan: But who is going to love me like this?

Gavin: I do.

Megan: What? (She’s shocked)

Gavin: (He grabs her hand) Megan, I have loved you from the very first time that I laid eyes on you.

Megan: But that day, I was covered in blood and torn apart.

Gavin: The blood symbolizes our LOVE. Your imperfections were perfect that night.

Megan: Gavin, what are you doing to me?

Gavin: I want to offer you love. Love like you’ve never experienced or felt before. I love you.
Megan. You have my heart. You listened to my heart bleed, but you loved me still. I love you, Gavin!

(In the end, Mr Richards went to jail, Lumkelo became a prostitute, was diagnosed with HIV, and after three years, she died. Ten years down the line, both Gavin and Megan graduated with a PHD in Psychology. 15 years later, they got married and lived happily ever after.)
