We sat by the fire, while the flames engulfed the winter wind. We sipped one sip at a time as our chilly cup of tea warmed our throats. One hand to the cup and the other moving close to the engulfing flames. Just what I needed, Grandma’s divine lemon Rooibos tea. While we listened to Grandma’s old tales, her favourite golden kettle brewed and brewed. (“Phuza mthwanam”) her warm voice filled the winter night. I locked my snowy cup into my hands and sniffed the fresh scent coming from my tea. The raging winter medicine, I heal.
