Inspiration for someone like me is like a coffee bean, it gives you a lift when you need it. Inspiration is also a key to personal power. It is also the missing puzzle piece to a picture that makes out the word ‘hope’ when completed.

Who inspires me?

I feel that my inspiration is none other than my social worker, Aunty Ntokozo. She is not an icon like Nelson Mandela, not an activist like Steve Biko, or the famous Mahatma Ghandi. She is my hero, simple as that. She knows how to bring out my best which was dormant. She is like an alarm that wakes me from my illusive slumber. She is like a mirror that reminds me of my current situation as well as ways to change it.

Her hottest element is her honesty; she tells it like it is. She is also very understanding, which is a good thing because as a teenager, you need guidance due to the fact that you feel like you’re stuck between being a kid and an adult. What makes the transition worth going through is having someone to guide you with wisdom and understanding.

Aunty Ntokozo is the reason I am who I am today. She is the parent I wish I had. What I love about her the most is that she wants the best for each of us at the home and has our best interest at heart.
