Mary’s whole world was on the verge of collapse. Her household was broken, like a construction site gone wrong. The walls were closing down on her, and there was nothing she could do to keep the roof from falling down on her head.

“I want you out of my house, Mary! I am done with you,” shouted Tshepo. He was divorcing her newlywed bride.

“I said I’m sorry, Tshepo! What do you want me to do?” replied Mary, pleading with her husband.

“Do whatever the hell you want, I don’t really care,” Tshepo continued. Mary was recently disgraced when her infidelity with her own boss, David, got exposed to the public. She could barely leave the house and could not show herself in public. People were always giving her nasty looks whenever they saw her walking around the street.

“I can’t believe you chose to sleep with David, your own boss, of all people!” Tshepo said, unpacking Mary’s belongings out of their bedroom and chasing her out on the streets.

“What the hell, Tshepo? Why are you taking my clothes out of the wardrobe?” Mary said, covering her mouth with both hands.

“Like I said Mary, get the hell out of my house!”

Their marriage had lasted for only one day, but Tshepo was already filling for divorce. There was nothing Mary could do to fix it, and Tshepo could not even look at her.

“Baby, please don’t do this to me, let’s talk about this!” Mary said, almost kneeling down on her knees. Tshepo ignored her and continued getting all of her belongings out of their bedroom. While they were arguing, they heard a knock on the door. Mary went to check who it was.

“Yes! Who is it?” Mary asked.

“I am a delivery guy from the post office,” the man said.

“Okay, how can we help you, sir?” Mary asked. The man remained silent for a moment.

“I am here to deliver a parcel for Mr Tshepo Sibanyoni,” the man said. Tshepo walked to the door and collected his parcel.

“Thank you very much sir, enjoy the rest of your day,” the delivery man said, shaking Tshepo’s hand.

The parcel was a small container with a small note attached on it with the words, “David sends his regards” written on it. David was the name of Mary’s boyfriend.

“Is this some kind of a sick joke, Mary?” shouted Tshepo, showing Mary the parcel.

“What’s wrong, Tshepo?”,Mary asked with surprise.

“This bloody parcel has your lover’s name on it! Do you know anything about this?” Tshepo asked.

“No! I know nothing of such,” Mary said. Tshepo hadn’t opened the parcel, but he already knew it was trouble.

“Come on Tshepo, open it and let’s see what is inside” Mary Said. Tshepo took scissors and opened the parcel.

“Oh my goodness, is that somebody’s penis?” shouted Mary. It was David’s. His wife had chopped it off and sent it off to David for his attention.
