Everything happened so fast like striking lightning! Before she could say her last word, he sent her spinning with his powerful fist on her face. She knocks herself on the edge of the dressing table. Everything goes black.

Zazi storms out of the house, furious anger written all over his face. He leaves her lying there on the floor, unconscious.

“What a mess!” he cries as he speeds off with his car. He has no clue yet where he’s going.

He feels as if he’s been torn apart by himself. He never meant to hit Lindiwe the way he just did. It’s all her fault. If she wasn’t so damn stubborn about signing the damn divorce papers, this wouldn’t have happened in the first place. He groans in thought.

He’s been showing her all the signals; that this stupid marriage has run out to its cost, but she kept pushing and pushing.

“Sweetheart, you know that I love you and I want us to work Zazi. I’m fully committed to you baby. We just have to try our best to make this marriage to last” Lindiwe had said softly, looking him straight in the eye.

“Lindiwe, I think I just made myself clear enough to you by now, there is no “us” anymore! Get that through your thick skull. This marriage was a mistake,” Zazi had said, avoiding her eye contact.

“How could you say that, Zazi? When you are the one who proposed to me and married me?” Her voice was emotional.

“I’m sorry, I made a mistake.” He’d stood up to leave their bedroom. “By the way this conversation is over!” He’d exclaimed.

“It’s her, isn’t it?!” Her voice got louder.

“Damn right it’s her! And you know what; I’m going to propose to her.” Zazi banged the door behind him.

“I won’t let you!” She screamed. “You can walk away, but I’m not going to sign those papers! Do you hear me?”

Ever since he met Lucia, he hasn’t been able to keep his focus on anything else besides her. That woman is every man’s dream and he won’t be a fool to let her slip through his fingers. No one will stop him, not even Lindiwe.

Each moment they’ve spend together was like magic. Her body is amazing. When she smiles, it’s like the world is reversing and he’s the luckiest guy to witness that beauty.

His phone vibrates in the pocket of his jeans.

“Sthandwa sami, I was just thinking about you. I just had a bad day, I want us to…”

Before he can finish his sentence, she cuts him off: “Zazi, we need to talk right now. I don’t have all day. It’s an emergency. Meet me at the park,” Lucia sounds annoyed and she hangs up.

Confusion fills Zazi’s head as he turns the car to the main road, speeding to the park as he’s been told. What is the matter with Lucia? Did something terrible happen to her? More worried than he’s ever been before, he speeds up until it’s like he’s flying.

At the park there are few couples around, and there in the corner, there is a latest BMW model. Zazi looks around to see if Lucia is here already. Then the cars door opens and Lucia waves her hand, calling Zazi to come over.

What he sees there is beyond his expectations. He tries to breathe, but it is like the world has run out of oxygen. He shivers like someone who has been walking in the cold-freezing rain. Lucia glances at him and grins. She is sitting on her fiancés lap and kissing him.

What a conniving little witch! All those expensive gifts and luxurious hotels he spent on her meant nothing. The promises they made to each other… He had been just a rebound guy to keep her company while she had been waiting for her fiancé, who was being jailed for armed robbery of a bank.

“Lindiwe, I’m sorry for everything I have put you through, you and the baby, our baby,” Zazi says, staring at her with pleading eyes. They are in their bedroom.

“I forgive you Zazi. You know that I love you, that’s why I’m giving you your freedom. You are a free man now Zazi. Don’t worry; I’ll take care of the baby,” Lindiwe says solemnly.

His jaw drops “No! Lindiwe you don’t have to do this to me! I love you baby and our baby too…”

As he is getting down to his knees to plead with her, the big moving truck arrives at the gate, hooting. “Beep! Beep!”

“I have to go now.” Lindiwe says, kneeling down to give him a passionate kiss. It feels like forever, but she breaks off and stands up. She rubs her belly and says, “Say good bye to daddy.”

Then she continues, “We’ll meet in court for the divorce proceedings.”

Zazi just stands there like a statue, sweating.
