Every written text has five foundational elements: characters, setting, plot, conflict, and virtual resolution. These fundamental elements keep the story running efficiently.

Reading with understanding initially involves listening as well as working out what is printed in the text. Every reader needs to familiarise themselves with these two reading techniques: skimming and scanning.

Skimming essentially involves reading in a leisurely way in order to get a general introductory sense of the material, and scanning involves reading rapidly in order to find specific facts. It also helps you detect a particular fact. They are both important if you want to get a clearer idea of a text.

Looking at the title of a text or story before approaching its introduction and body is important, as is analysing the title to get a better understanding of what you will be reading about. Analysing involves reading the title carefully, several times, and underlining the key words and phrases.

Reading has numerous benefits, such as acquiring new innovative knowledge, improving focus and concentration, and essentially advancing writing skills.
