Don’t judge a book by its cover is a common statement that everybody knows. It refers in a literal sense to the idea that you shouldn’t judge a book before reading it based on how it looks. Everyday people make assumptions on things based solely on their appearance. There are many books out there and we should judge them by content and not by how they look. It also refers to people and their ideas.

So why judge a girl by what you see and not what is underneath? Would you refuse to read a book because you didn’t like what you saw on the cover? The content is what matters, so the cover doesn’t change anything.

First impressions do have a great impact in our society today, but for people who look past these first impressions and get to know the person on a deeper level will find it easier to succeed in life. I know this because it has had a huge impact on my life. So, the next time you see a girl just remember that she is beautiful on the inside. Don’t let her looks deceive you. Today’s society is easily deceived by the looks of someone without knowing what lies behind the looks, whether it’s good or bad.

This is prejudice and often leads to discrimination. Unfortunately the society we live in often benefits people of superior physical attractiveness and discriminates against those who may not be appealing to the eyes. People that are flawless or beautiful in today’s society often gain unfair advantages in life, such as special treatment in the workplace or contests. Especially in contests, for example, who wants to look at an unattractive super model? They even say that if you want to be the next super model you must super attractive. To me that feels like they are discriminating against the less attractive people, but we expected to be treated equally. Although that’s not always the case.
We should just stop judging people and books based on what we see. Everything is not what it seems because of what’s on the cover – it’s not all about the looks.

Even in the Bible in 1 Corinthians 4:5 it says: “Therefore judge nothing before the proper time; wait until the Lord comes. Also when you judging people pointing them remember that three fingers are pointing at yourself that means you must have a look at yourself at least three times before judging someone else.”

The funny thing is that people will tell you to be yourself and still judge you.

A man once wrote: “Don’t judge me by the way I look and by the way I have my hair. Don’t judge me by my dirty shoes and by the way my jeans are torn. Don’t think because I have tattoos that I’m not nice to know. Don’t think because I swear that I have no feelings to show. My appearance is a defense to how I feel inside. My sensitivity is my weakness so my appearance is just a lie.”

People will always judge you every day and life is too short to worry about what they say about you. Have fun and give them something to talk about. Only God can judge you and I on judgment day. He is the only one that matters.
