Holy Spirit Personified

The Bible came in Africa, particularly Cape Town, South Africa in 1652 with Jan van Riebeeck. He was a businessman but he was also in a quest to instil Christianity in Africa. The easy way of getting Africans to be Christians was to give them the Bible and the missionary’s religion.

In 1652 he came alone, then later in 1737 missionaries came in numbers. Their mission, as the name suggests, was to take the land of a black child. They knew that Africans were so rooted in their beliefs and they were grounded. The Bible was there to change their perspective, the way they see church in an African way. They introduced a new way of worshiping, one that denounces our ancestors.

Before missionaries came and filled the land of our ancestors, there were African Prophets who prayed to their Supreme Being – their Creator. They used to call him in their different languages and in Xhosa he was Qamata, Mvelingqangi, Mkhulumncandi. In parts of the African continent they called their creator Mwari, Olorun, Kalunga, Nzambi, Nyame, Yala, Imana, Meketa, Chuku, Oludumare and God.

There was no Holy Spirit or the son. The Holy Spirit was even given a gender and identity, take a closer look at your Bible (Matthew 1:18-23) where it states that Jesus Christ was conceived by the virgin Mary through the holy spirit. Anything that is able to impregnate is masculine.

Our ancestors had nothing to do with the Holy Spirit, they only prayed to God their Creator, who is also a spirit.

Let’s get this clear: God is the Holy Spirit. The other two were introduced by the Bible, by Christianity. In African Spirituality we know the Creator (God) the one and only, and there are no other two figures by the name of Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

In the Bible, when they write about the Holy Spirit they refer to it as a “he”. So basically the Holy Spirit is a person. And now my problem is that Christians always say they worship one God, but there are two figures besides God; Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Both of them are human beings in a way because they are both called “he” in the bible.

And when Christians pray they call to “God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.” How? That means they pray to three Gods because trinity means three.

The main reason our parents followed Christianity blindly and denounced their own way is because they were told not to question the word of God. Let us not sit and just accept the status quo. If something is written in the Bible, interpret it. Just like when Jesus Christ said, “I was sent to rescue the lost sheep of Israel,” and you try to make it suit the whole world.

We cannot all follow the same religion as we are different. Jesus preached Judaism for the Jewish, I find it very strange that he did not even preach Christianity.

I think the writer should read the whole Bible charter by chapter carefully before writing something that he is not understand. Acts.11.9 - "But the voice from heaven came again, 'If God says something is acceptable, don't say it isn't.' Acts.11.12 - The Holy Spirit told me to go with them and not to worry about their being Gentiles. These six brothers here accompanied me, and we soon arrived at the home of the man who had sent for us. Acts.11.17 - And since God gave these Gentiles the same gift he gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to argue?" Acts.11.18 - When the others heard this, all their objections were answered and they began praising God. They said, "God has also given the Gentiles the privilege of turning from sin and receiving eternal life."

No.1, the bible was written in Africa. Africa has black people and all. So I don't know what you mean by "the bible was used to take a black childs land". No.2, God, the holy spirit and Jesus are one. Just as you, your spirit are one. No.3, please stop using bible verses to justify what you just said. When you open the bible again, open it because you want to know more about God and because you really want to understand it in a spiritual perspective. Don't open it to find faults and wrongs in it. I know God, I don't have to see him with my earthly eyes. I've seen him move and change things for the better in my life and others life's. I hope he helps you see him. Coz haa

Thembikosi Zungu let me answer you, before Christianity in Africa there were African beliefs, there were African Prophets who were guided by God the Creator. African Spirituality was the way of worshiping back then, that is what my ancestors were believing in, you are right there is something that people must believe in but let be careful, that is my opinion I do not impose. my beliefs to the whole world. God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy spirit. One God and three manifestations. God is a spirit you are right on that. But when He came to forgive sins He could've not come as a spirit that is why he came as flesh. He took on human nature so that he can dwell amongst humans.He could not come as fully God because the Bible clearly tells you that no man has seen God and lived.That's why He came in Human form so that we can behold his glory. About the Holy Spirit. You are right that the Holy Spirit is a person and that person is God. The Holy Spirit is used to describe God as Spirit. The spirit of God. God is Holy. That's why He is called the Holy Spirit. And just in case you didn't know, the Holy Spirit is not a ghost, or a wind or a fire or a dove. He is often symbolized by all those things but that ain't who He is. He is the third person of the Trinity, not third because He is least in value, just third because He is the last to be revealed to us in pages of scripture.But all of the power, all of the grandour, all of the authority, all of the glory of God the Father is in the person of the Holy Spirit. Yes you right Trinity means three. But it does not mean three Gods. It is one God and three manifestations like I earlier emphasized . Human being too are a Trinity as in Body, Soul and Spirit. But does that mean that we are three persons? No we are not. We are one person in three manifestations. That's why in the book of Genesis God said that we are created in His image and likeness. One scholar once said that the great sin of the people in the old testament is that they did not believe in God the Father, and the great sin of the people in the new testament is that they did not believe in Jesus the Son and the great sin of our generation is that we do not believe in the Holy spirit. I salute you my brother.. it's time for African revival, it's time for us to go back to our roots where we came from This Christianity thing was just a propaganda to blind a black person.. everything written there in the bible doesn't benefit a black person. Those are just fairy tales which we were forced to believe to. I believe that there was no Jesus from the first place. There is a question i want uDarki to ask him or herself... " why did those missionaries translate the Bible in all African languages but at school we still learn things in their language? "

This is tough, it's really hard. I personally believe that there is God, and that Jesus died for our sins. If Jesus preached Judaism for the Jewish, then what did the black majority believe in ,like what did they practice? As for Jan van Riebeeck what a nice move, this is a generational lie and it will live eternally, if it's really true that he came with the Bible to rob Africans of their land, haha. In my opinion I personally think it's important to believe, we need to believe in something. It's all about believing in something, if it works for you then you should keep practicing. Even black majority that practice their religion still believe that the Holly spirit exists.

Eix bible neh..i dont wanna sound rude also.but i believe GOD is GOD.regadless of who came with the bible..beside now everything that was prophecysd to happen,they are all happening..the only thing that i think we missing is that,most people "now" dont believe n GOD.they believe in miracles.yes its not a bad thing but GOD first...holy spirit,Jesus nd God reading my bible sound 1.@Kennethalice is right,those who believe GOD doesnt exist its on their concious.and God knew that we will still have doubt..just imagen those Iserael's who had seen the power of God,his holyness,his mighty,his mercy while he took them from Egypt..but still they had doubt on the way.that is why,few of them mananged to get to the land of peace,the land that flowz milk and honey.because few believed GOD is holy spirit nd GOD is Love.they had doubts about GOD..

I'm sorry to be rude but God is real. If he wasn't real, than how come all the things written about the last days (izikhathi zokugcina)in the book of Revelations is coming true. And please read 1John 4 verse 9. And there is a verse in John that says, *who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is Christ? He is a Antichrist* And there's another verse in John that says *There is the Father, Son and Holy spirit and all these are one*.

I think we all misses the point here,,,here are questions we should ask before certain conclusion..why God did he sent Jesus Christ ?why holy spirit, God sent Jesus because people were not praying and were very doubtful in this way..why should we pray God we don't see,Where to find God,Who is God? Most believed God doesn't exist.This is a long story to explain indeed..I can take the whole year explain to you.Jesus came here on earth as a symbol that God want us to believe that he exist in a flesh,,Think about this 'ifJoseph impregnated Maria ' who were going to bow before a caperter 's son I mean Joseph's no one..so he decided to send Holy spirit to do that for him..don't ask me who is holy spirit becos I will ask you who is the evil spirit!Thank you..Even in our real life we look at each other with resentment,if Jesus were son of Joseph no one would bow before him because of what his background..So Almighty had foreseen all of this before then decides to do it that way..we all have all this kind of spirit so God because he is a holy one that is why he named his spirit a holy one..your spirit depends on how you behave or how you want people judge you..that is why when you do good we will say 'onomosa' and mawuenza izinto ezikhohlakele sithe 'you are evil' Just like left and right,good and bad That's how this things work.

yes God(Qamata) was/is a spirit that used to utter voices to Xhosa's and other tribes so as to instruct them about what to do. all in 1 there is no nation or Country that praise directly to God. All beliefs via some kind of connector to God. as Xhosa's belief it via Ancesters,Christians Via Christ, Islams via Mohamed. So there is no belief better than the other period.

God is spirit but because though we are made out of his image the devil was more powerful than flesh for the devil alsa is spirit. The devil won peaple by making them believe that flesh alsa has a role in mans life. For that God came as a spirit and manifested in flesh for there are peaple who believe only in what they see. God had to be in a form of a human being for peaple to see and relate because they were dead spiritual and would not handle his glory should he come down as spirit. God the father the son and the holy spirit is God alone. He came in spirit they did not understand him. He came in flesh they did not believe him and killed him though their so called ancestors preached about his coming, they stil did not believe. Fortunately some believed and were saved that is y only them can recieve the holy spirit for now they know and believe God is spirit and are now able to stand the glory. The Bible is more than a book if u read it with your spirit. Look deep and u will c God. If you believe in your heart God him self will reveal his mysterious self to you. The problem is peaple know about God. Their knowledge is limited to books and pastors preaching their own interpretation. Look deep and you wil see God. He speaks in his Word through the holy spirit to all who are ready to hear him. God is not African yes, he was for jews until he was heard and believed by all who listened with their heart and believed.

if christianity was introduced to blacks on 1652 how come blacks became so spiritual gifted that the missionaries who brought a bible? would God ever create a man to be a slave of another man? if so that's the bible teaching so it is the main reason slaves believe in 1 God as their oppressors. only to take our land that was the onlu reason bible was introduced.
