We are all aware of a period in time where people were discriminated against based on the colour of their skin…something which they had no control over.

We are currently living in a time where people are discriminated against because of the country they were born in…something which they had no control over.

Somehow in this world some people have forgotten the rights that all humans have.

Many have fought and given their lives to ensure a free and equal life for all, for all to be entitled to the best life they can possibly live, and also to treat others the way they would want the next person to treat them.

The right to human dignity is the right which means the most to me, for it breaks my heart and tortures my soul to see humans scar one another through painful words that cut so deep and actions that make people feel like things.

The way we treat others states a lot about the type of person we are and also has a huge impact on the people we interact with. For the way we make that person feel can affect the decision they make following that moment. It can be good, bad, and it can also be extremely bad. For people will always remember the way you made them feel.

We can all live in a world where we fall asleep being content with the day we lived and the impact we had on others. To wake up with excitement to start the new day because just waking up is already a gift.

As humans we are surrounded by so much beauty: the sky, the ocean, the sunrise, and most importantly our fellow human beings. Build each other up, help each other, cherish each other, cry together, celebrate together, celebrate one another, laugh together and not at each other. Respect each other, for we all are supposed to be on the same team.

Let’s not be a part of all the negative in the world, let’s not punish or hurt each other. Don’t let this world turn us against our fellow man, but allow the world to connect us in the most amazing and magical ways. We are all so beautifully different, unique in every way, and we all make up this rainbow nation that we call home.

Today being Human’s Rights day and every other day of our lives, let’s remember the constitutional rights that we all have and to not under any circumstance make another person feel anything less than human.

For each and everyone is entitled to the right of human dignity.

“For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others” – Nelson Mandela-
